ISO14001 – Revision

BY Reno ON September 18, 2014.

It is widely anticipated that the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) will issue a revised version of the ISO14001 Environmental Management System Standard sometime during the second and third quarters of 2015.

As with all ISO management system standards, ISO14001 is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure it continues to be relevant and effective in assisting organizations to meet the demands of managing their environmental risks and improving environmental performance.

The review involves a six stage process; the standard is currently at stage four, the DIS (Draft International Standard) stage, which was published in July of 2014. There then followed a period of consultation between interested parties which finished in the last quarter of 2014. The ISO will then publish the FDIS (Final Draft International Standard); this is expected to be in February 2015 with the final approved standard, ISO14001: 2015, expected during May of 2015.

If you wish to comment on the DIS or FDIS when it is published please contact your National Standards Body (http://www.iso.org/iso/home/about/iso_members.htm).
