IMSM are pleased to announce that the latest revision of the extremely popular ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) Standard, was released this morning.
The latest version, ISO 9001:2015, is being described as an “Evolutionary” change and a firm step into the 21st century with several important modifications.
In the spirit of moving forward with the times, the new standard is less prescriptive, instead allowing organisations to focus more on performance and the streamlining of business processes.
The standard is also more accommodating for a wider range of industry standards, such as the TS 16949 automotive, and the AS 9100 aerospace standard. Additionally, if an organisation has the 14001 (Environmental) or OHSAS 18001 (Health & Safety) standards, these can be better integrated with the new ISO 9001:2015, allowing a comprehensive management system for an organisation, this has been achieved through the use of the Annex SL framework across the most recent quality standards.
As with the previous version, the ISO 9001:2015 standard remains customer focused, by enhancing an organisations ability to provide an excellent service to them, through streamlined procedures and a strong foundation to allow the organisation to grow and prosper.
IMSM’s Technical Manager, Mike Green, of whom is leading the revision project for the two new recently revised standards (ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015) for IMSM, has said:
“The newly revised 9001 standard brings a new, modern approach to the standard and an excellent opportunity for organisations of all sizes and industries to invest in their future, IMSM have built a robust revision programme that provides organisations with a very modern and accessible way to upgrade their existing system, our auditors and implementation consultants have trained for the new standard and are well placed to assist organisations.”
